How Meditation Improves Your Life

When I first heard about how meditation improves your life, I kind of rolled my eyes at it because I didn’t really see what the point of it was.

I mean sure I’ve heard about the benefits of meditation, but I wasn’t fully aware of how it would truly impact my life. Back when I was going to therapy, I remember my therapist would literally make us do a meditation at the beginning of our sessions. Now years later, I’ve recently found myself I appreciating what meditation has done for me.

Now, I’ve been making meditating a common practice throughout my day.

Of course, life can get busy and sometimes I forget which is absolutely okay!

However, I’ve noticed that especially in last few months, when I really started to double down on my meditation practice and do it more consistently and longer, I’ve noticed a massive change in my behavior and my character.

It’s been such an incredible practice in my mindfulness journey, so I wanted to share with you guys the benefits that I have mainly experienced.

Now, of course, there are sooo many benefits out there that are scientifically backed up; however, I will be sharing the ones that I have personally experienced.

Table of Contents:

1. You experience calmer thoughts

This is a pretty popular side effect with meditation. A lot of people who meditate will tell you how they stop experiencing intrusive thoughts and I also second that!

It’s even been helpful for people who have anxiety or other mental disorders like ADD and ADHD. It may seem like it’s impossible and I personally don’t have mental disorders like ADD and ADHD, but I do know of a Youtuber who has talked about his journey being diagnosed with these mental disorders and how it changed his life.

Plus, think of it this way, has you ever walked away from an argument and wished you hadn’t said something?

Or maybe you wished that you had said more to that person?

Now, don’t think we’re trying to start a fight here, but when it comes to our thoughts, we usually think of the first thing that pops up in our mind and if we really aren’t paying attention to those thoughts, our words can really hurt a person’s feelings.

And if you want to be the bigger person, we don’t want to do that.

To me, when it comes to my reactions now, it’s almost as if there’s a veil inside my mind that prevents my emotions from elevating too much into my adrenaline.

I find that I am able to easily confront people and do it in a way where I present myself wiser and clearly.

This is especially helpful if you live in a household where you may have family members or roommates with anger issues, erratic behaviors, or who may just live too much into their own egos.

Meditation will help you not absorb this type of energy!

2. You find out you have more patience

I mean let’s be real, if you can sit there everyday in silence, even if it’s just for ten minutes a day, you’ll probably start to develop a lot of patience in other areas of your life!

I, for one, definitely used to be impatient, especially towards other people.

I’m generally someone who moves very quickly and I always expected others to keep up.

The more I practice meditation, the more patient and understanding I have become.

This practice would definitely benefit mothers and kids (in a way where they can understand. There are many resources out there that give great advice for starting kids out with meditation).

For sure, you can find ten minutes of your day whether that’s getting up earlier or doing it before bedtime to sit down in silence.

Trust me, you’ll definitely feel so much better afterwards! No excuses!

3. You find that you manifest faster!

For all you manifestors out there, I highly suggest meditation!

I’ve talked about this before how meditation helps you rewire your subconscious, which means that whatever it is you want to manifest in your life will come faster because you’ll be in the mindset of having/being your manifestation!

We know that when it comes to manifesting our desires, we want it all to just come quickly, right?

Well, as I said before, with the effects of meditation, you cultivate your energy into your manifestation (if that is your intention to do so) and you might find that what you are manifesting is coming into fruition much faster than you expected!

Think of meditation as the water to your seed, which the seed is your intention/manifestation.

The more you do it, the faster your manifestation will grow!

I think that’s a pretty darn good reason to meditate!

4. You experience inner healing

In order for us to better ourselves, we need to heal our old wounds. I don’t want to hear any of my readers sit here and tell me that there is literally nothing in your life that needs healing because chances are, you for sure have some limiting beliefs.

You probably don’t realize it and it’s most likely been buried down because you know, society expects us to tough it up and move on. That really does more damage to us than good.

Therefore, meditation can help us work out the inner struggles that we face with ourselves. Another word for this is shadow work (which I will talk more about in a future post).

When we heal our old wounds, whether that’s childhood wounds, traumas, karmas, whatever that may be, it’s like we level up in life. You’ll start to give yourself more self-love (something that we all struggle with here and there) and you’ll be able to get over the things that happened to you in the past.

This is essential to learning the lessons life has to offer you and manifesting your dream life!

5. You find an increase in energy

We all want an abundance of energy, right!?

Well, meditation has been proven to do that!

A lot of it has to do with the release of endorphins and the increase blood flow to the brain during meditation. It’s kind of the same feeling as drinking a cup of coffee or going on a walk, but without the adrenaline pumping through your veins.

The type of energy that meditation brings is more calming and more natural than the simulants that we can get from outside sources.

However, I can see why meditation can seem like it gives you more energy because you’re more focused on getting tasks done.

This is how our body can naturally gain more energy!

6. You find you are more well-spoken

This is very convenient if you are a salesperson, a leader, or maybe you have a hard time talking in interviews or meetings!

Like I’ve mentioned before, meditation calms your thoughts. So naturally, you’ll be able to choose your words more carefully and articulate yourself in a better manner.

This is also helpful for people who have a hard time speaking up for themselves.

In my experience, ever since I started meditation, in my head it feels like the conversation is going by slower than what it actually is. So my words are coming across as me sounding “smart” which is the only way I can describe this situation to my readers so you can understand what I mean by being well-spoken.

Even better, the more intention you put behind wanting to sound more confident or being able to speak up in front of people, the better your meditation will benefit you in those intentions!

That’s the key though: put intention behind it.

7. You find yourself connecting to the Universe better

We all can connect to our higher selves, guides, and infinite intelligence.

We are spiritual beings made out of energy and meditation helps us open up to our source energy where we have the ability to receive messages for our highest good.

For me, it feels like I have a stronger connect with my guides. I’ve been able to tell what my life purpose is, what kind of person I really am, attract amazing experiences into my life, and so much more.

Which means, you can do the exact same thing!

All you have to do is set the intention and release expectations so that you aren’t creating too much resistance.

Meditation will help you become aware and in the present moment, which is important when it comes to receiving guidance anyways!

The more you do this, the more coherent messages you will get!
